Jim
says I just like it because I love Grandma's, and the
Friedbergers...and maybe there is some truth to that,
but this is by far the most bizarre, intricate concept
album I've ever heard. And I love a good concept album...
The cd opens with carnival-esque organ and Grandma singing
about "Faster Hammers! Faster Hammers!....churn and
turn into my late train to my lost love..." Granted...I've
listened about 3 times, and I'm still not sure what the
concept is....but Grandma and Elanor sing together fabulously
in a Then and Now echo. It's wonderful!! A must hear!!!
The Fiery Furnaces may be best listened to under the cans
with a cigarette in one hand, a scotch in the other, about
30 minutes into a hit of acid....however, I found that
it's pretty darn good stone cold sober.
Once I watched Fantasia with the sound down to Metallica's
Kill Em All...
I can't wait to sync Rehearsing My Choir
to Bambi.
