Gere Fenelly's first solo CD (released mid 2002) is absolute piano brilliance! And I chose it as my staff pick because I think this is potentially
one the best Christmas/Holiday gift you could give to any music lover. Gere Fenelly is "88 Magic"…and a true genius and cult phenomenon. Gere spent her teens as a rock star in Japan (with the band ROX), and then moved on to be the toast of San Francisco…"flooring people with her classically trained, yet outrageously flamboyant playing". As well as being a church organist since the age of ten and playing for countless dance studios.

In the USA Gere is probably best known for the keyboards she played in the band Redd Kross. "Gere Played Piano" was recorded live- no retakes or overdubs- on a grand piano in a small home studio in Eagle Rock, California, by Scott Frazier, of the avant-garde modern violin group The Kronos Quartet. Gere plays us her own unique…haunting versions of David Bowie, XTC, Elton John, Thelonius Monk, Glenn Miller, Albinoni and Beethoven. You really have to hear this CD to believe it! I once gave a copy of this CD to my massage therapist, so she could play it in her salon...it would also be great background music for your holiday parties…Trust me…even Grandma will enjoy this one…
