| On
Friday, July 13, J.A. Ziemba found out about what
went on at The Loft. That night, he picked up a
guitar again. Six months later, Love
At Thirty was completed. Love
At Thirty was released by Parasol Records
on September 30, 2008. Written and recorded chronologically
at home, the album documented the events surrounding
Friday, July 13. As it were, that’s when one
life ended and another began...
|
| Still,
there was much work to be done. Alone for the first
time in a decade, fate had given J.A. the opportunity
to focus on something that he’d neglected
and feared for years: himself. Friday, June 13 arrived.
Eight months later, on Friday, February 13, Admirations
was completed. Written and recorded at home, Admirations
documents the second year of a new life, one rife
with fear, wonder, sexuality, and a fight for happiness.
Its completion helped Ziemba to grow into the person
he was meant to be, while providing a final closure
on the events surrounding Friday, July 13. |
| Previously,
J.A. spent the better part of a decade making music
and traveling with The Like Young and Wolfie. He
was born in Chicago Heights, IL (1977) and was kicked
out of his junior high school jazz band. Ziemba
remains passionate about every aspect of graphic
design, which is how he makes his living. Furthermore,
J.A. knows a bit of French, but not nearly as much
as he’d like. He deeply admires Françoise
Hardy, Brian Wilson, his Tascam four tracks, and
all types of vintage cinema. He also tends to read
a lot. |
Popmatters:
"The zenith of his creativity in terms of the
‘concept album’, and in terms of expanding
his music."
All Music Guide: "Its
honesty and sheer emotional power put it on a level
with Richard & Linda Thompson’s Shoot
Out the Lights , Marvin Gaye’s Here, My Dear
, and Bob Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks as an
impressively honest and emotional album about divorce."
