Uptighty, a revolving
jam session of a band, has assembled 13 of their finest
players for their full length debut. Incorporating some
of the swingingest from the Chicago scene, the disc gives
the listener a great view of what Uptighty is all about;
showing off the tight horns, all the singing and swinging,
the full-length feature jams, and a rhythm section even
Curtis Mayfield himself might listen to.
Leroy
Bach is the guitarist/vocalist, ring-leader, and constant
member
of Uptighty. He also plays bass for 5ive Style (Sub Pop)
and was a member of Liz Phair's band for two albums... The
band boasts members of Tortoise and the Tar Babies, also.
Yes, Uptighty are members of the incestuous Chicago scene,
not unlike their friends in Tortoise and The Sea & Cake,
but with far more emphasis on funk. |
