This compilation
features one track from each of the first 17 singles
from Mud Records.
The disc contains
an early version of Sundress by the band Hum. Hum is
currently signed to RCA Records and their CD, You'd Prefer
an Astronaut, has sold over 175,000 copies. The band
has been touring like crazy. They've played a week's
worth of Lollapalooza, toured with Mercury Rev and Bush,
and have performed live on MTV, Connan O'Brien, John
Stewart, and (gulp!) Howard Stern. With airplay across
the nation and tons of touring, people will be seeking
out Hum's earlier material. Both the singer/guitarist
and the bassist for Hum also play with Mud veterans,
Honcho Overload.
Mother
has changed their name to Menthol. Only the name is
different,
the line-up is the same. An earlier version of Sweet & Loaded
from their Mud full-length Gold Record LP appears here.
Capitol Records released Menthol's major label debut
in July. They've been touring constantly since the record's
release with the likes of Better Than Ezra, Matthew Sweet,
and Triple Fast Action.
Hardvark's
Memory Barge has been released by DGC Records. The album's
single, Dress, appears on a Mud single and on this compilation,
as does an earlier version of Firecracker (now titled F-C-Wendy-9-4). |
