09/20/2005 Entry: "Fake Publicity - North Korea"
I hate fake publicity (though the one about Offspring titling a new album "Chinese Democracy" was inspired). Artist X will never tour again. Artist X has decided to do a farewell tour. Artist X will never tour again. Artist X has decided to do another farewell tour. OK, I have no problem with the tour announcement (though "farewell tour" is likely inappropriate) but the "will never tour again" part drives me crazy. It always seems to be a way to generate news when there's nothing going on. Similarly, when I saw the announcements yesterday about the nuclear deal with North Korea I screamed (to myself) FAKE PUBLICITY! C'mon. This happens at least every year or two. North Korea agrees to something and then over the next few months it all falls apart. It always happens. This time it only took a day. Seriously, who didn't see it coming?
