04/01/2004 Entry: "A Fake French Memento"
A few years back Parasol artist Mark Bacino took me to see his friend's band, Les Sans Culottes, play at Arlene's Grocery in New York. LSC was an 8-piece (trimmed back to seven for 2004) consisting of (North) Americans that pretended to be French. I don't think I heard any France Gall tunes that night but it was a fun show. The band is currently playing dates on the West Coast and member Jean Luc Retard is contributing a tour diary to Slate. I particularly like the Memento-ish entry from Tuesday this week.
