Writer Daphne Carr has her own blog that includes this heading to a recent entry:
"thanks for all your help, daphne!!!"
She proceeds, "there's nothing more sinister to me than getting the subject message from a publicist when i write a good review of a record - it makes me feel like maybe i've done something wrong, or that
christgau's cynical take on pop consumerism is creeping into my bones."
I must admit that I've thanked a few writers for pieces they've written, though I feel like I'm thanking them more for 1) opening my package, 2) listening to the CD, and 3) pitching coverage, than I am thanking them for what they've written. In fact, I've even thanked people who have written very marginal reviews because of 1, 2 and 3 above. But, maybe polite doesn't work...
