03/03/2004 Entry: "Comsat Angels"

Wow! I didn't know there were so many Comsat Angels fans out there waiting to buy their new box set "History" which includes the band's first 3 CDs. It's been #1 on our sales chart for the past few weeks. I bought the LPs as they were released back in the early '80s and songs "Independence Day" and "Total War" from the first album "Waiting For a Miracle" are among my favorites of the Punk/New Wave era. Parasol Jim has often played the band's "Fiction" album here at the office claiming it contains some of the best drumming ever. Those individual CDs have sold recently on eBay in the $50-$100 range so now is a good time to get all three, plus a 4th disc of unreleased demos, for under $30. The Comsat Angels rank right up there with The Sound as under appreciated UK bands. Though, strictly speaking, the bands don't sound alike, if you liked either of the first two Sound re-issues, I think this box set is for you.
